The Fastest Train in the World
Jan 15th
The golden age of high-speed rail travel is now in China. Check out this fascinating video taken by a rider on the fastest train in the world, which flies on the rails between Guangzhou (Canton) near Hong Kong to Wuhan. Enjoy the soothing piano music and a box lunch in the first class coach! I like Chinese Chicken Salad.
Why fly when you can travel the 1000km between Guangzhou (Canton) near Hong Kong to Wuhan – which is halfway up China on the Yangtze River – in about three hours. The journey can be done in luxury and costs about $115. A very nice way to go. The electric trains are hypermodern, the ride is so smooooth and they even feed you en route.

Thanks to Facebook, “unfriend” will soon be appearing in what has long been considered the ultimate reference work in American English lexicography. The New Oxford American Dictionary has chosen to legitimize the once grammatically-questionable word by naming it the 2009 Word of the Year. A verb, “unfriend” is defined as “to remove someone as a ‘friend’ on a social networking site such as Facebook.” 300 million Facebook users can’t be wrong!

Apple Planning Subscription iTunes TV Service?
Nov 3rd

According to ChannelWeb, Apple is looking to do to the television business what it has done with the record industry – take it over!
Apple (NSDQ:AAPL) is pitching TV networks about a new service that delivers TV programs via its iTunes software and store across a wide range of hardware via a $30-per-month subscription service.
The networks are both intrigued by and wary of the new potential service, according to a Monday report in The Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital blog.
Rather than tying such a service to its Apple TV box or a rumored table device, Apple would make the TV shows available for subscription via iTunes as early as next year, wrote Peter Kafka in the All Things Digital blog.
