Chicago trio Russian Circles are set to release their latest full-length album, Empros, on Tuesday, October 25th via Sargent House. The new record is described as the band’s Master of Reality. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill, so I’m anxiously awaiting this one! More >

If you’re not really a big fan of motor racing, or you’re into the hillbilly-style of faux racing known here in the U.S. as NASCAR, you’ll enjoy this film, anyway. If you are a big fan of open-wheel motor racing, you will really enjoy this film. “You are competing to win, and, if you no longer go for a gap you are no longer a racing driver” says the film’s subject, Ayrton Senna. Take that Little E!
Easily the best documentary I’ve seen this year. Now playing at the Landmark Theater on Pico in West Los Angeles. Go see it!
Most of these YouTube Lemmy videos are disposable, but this one from Wacken Open Air 2011 is priceless. Enjoy the view as the increasingly Ozzy-esque Lemmy and the German Ryan Seacrest speak into tennis balls. Pow!
Believe it or not, Lemmy was able to perform later that evening! No, not that way, I mean musically. Enjoy their quite passable version of the classic “Killed by Death” henceforth…
“Handsome” Dick Manitoba look-alike Bob “make sure to tip your dancers” Nalbandian is back with another episode in his award-winning reality-based mini-series based on the lives of quadragenarians (I’m being kind here) reliving the glory days of their heavy metal youths. In this episode legendary music journalists John Kornarens and Jon Sutherland discuss just how instrumental they were in launching the careers of the members of Metallica. Truth be known: there is very little chance the band would even exist today, let alone in its present form, without their formidable cheerleading and networking skills. Enjoy.
Jose Feliciano is credited as the guy who freed the “Star Spangled Banner” from its prison, paving the way for folks such as Jimi Hendrix, Zakk Wylde and Roseanne Barr to deliver the national anthem to us in any number of entertaining ways. He also gets credit for pissing off rednecks. Great work Jose and happy birthday America!
Check out the new In Flames video for “Deliver Us,” a new song from the band’s forthcoming release entitled Sounds Of A Playground Fading due out June 21st via Century Media.
