Top 10 Motörhead Songs – #8 “Orgasmatron”

Well, it’s probably not one of the top 10 Motörhead songs, and it’s not even the best song on the album, but Orgasmatron sure is a cool video! The Bill Laswell-produced Orgasmatron was the only full-length Motörhead album to feature drummer Pete Gill. Classics such as “Deaf Forever” and “Doctor Rock” make this album a must-have for your wine cellar.

Another Perfect Day is Motörhead’s Come Taste the Band (look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about, son) The only Motörhead album to feature former Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson, Another Perfect Day is an under-appreciated masterpiece of rock ‘n’ roll. Lemmy has figured it out and the current lineup has been butchering a couple of songs from this era (and every other) of the band, of late. Take a moment to savor and enjoy this blurry video of “I Got Mine,” number 9 on the Top 10 Motörhead Songs countdown.

Whilst eating lunch today at the world’s only taco shop co-owned and occasionally operated by a member of the Jackass crew, I had a unique and wonderful experience unlike any I’ve had in a Mexican restaurant: Motörhead’s “Iron Fist” came blaring out of the speakers. Great food, great music, highly recommended. Did I mention the $2 Dos Equis during happy hour?

There is no good reason to do a “Top 10 Motörhead Songs” mini-series, but we’re going to do it anyway. Any guesses what number one might be? Ha! Well, you’re wrong. Here’s the first episode. Tune in occasionally to see the other nine. Arrrggghhhhh!!!
Although the album from whence it sprang is largely blamed for killing the classic Motörhead lineup and sending the band into a couple of years of Robbo-induced turmoil, Iron Fist remains one of the top 10 Motörhead songs, no question. Enjoy.
Motorfighters or Foohead?

Looks like Motörhead will be opening up for Foo Fighters on a few midwestern dates this spring. If you happen to be in Oklahoma, Tennessee, Iowa or Arkansas in May (or any other time, ever, for that matter) you have my deepest sympathies. Redondo Beach Eagles Lodge For Sale

Eagles Lodge Redondo Beach
The historic Eagles Lodge in Redondo Beach, California is for sale. This place might make a great concert hall. Some of the best live shows I’ve ever seen have been in union halls and the like (Suicidal Tendencies at the San Diego VFW, Lemmy and Motorhead at Maritime Hall in San Francisco, and more!)
It’s unlikely you’d be able to put punk or metal bands in the place, but who knows. And the fantastic venue known as Brixton South Bay is right across the street, so you’d be hard-pressed to compete. You’re better off buying the place for your church, charter school or yoga academy. Scientology, maybe?
